Steven Allan Booth
Ordained Daoist priest. Twenty-five years in the internal arts. Formerly a registered Doctor of Chinese Medicine, with a Graduate Diploma in Psychology and ten years of shiatsu behind the needles. Lightwork Academy is the school he built to teach what those years taught him — properly, and out loud.
Steven came to acupuncture through the body — shiatsu first, then the internal arts, then the clinic. He practised as a registered Doctor of Chinese Medicine from 2015 to 2019 and now works as a Qualified Acupuncture Practitioner from a private clinic in Ewingsdale, alongside community sessions in Mullumbimby and consulting work with a range of GPs.
The esoteric layer arrived through Dr Mikio Sankey's Esoteric Acupuncture, whose New Encoding Patterns treat the acupuncture points as gateways to higher consciousness and arrange them in geometries. Steven has been on the system's practitioner register since, has taught the patterns in Byron Bay for years, and wrote the text of one of them. What he adds is the bridge: a clinician's insistence on mechanism, a Daoist priest's cultivation, and a transpersonal counsellor's care with what surfaces.
The academy's rules follow from that. Everything is explained before it is practised. Everything is credited to where it came from. Nothing is sold as treatment. And the practitioner's own cultivation — the logbook, the daily practice — is never optional, because in this work you cannot hold for another what you have not held for yourself.

The New Encoding Patterns, the 3-6-1 Antahkarana Meditation and the point diagrams are Dr Mikio Sankey's work, published across eight volumes of Esoteric Acupuncture: Gateway to Expanded Healing. Steven is listed on the system's practitioner register. What Lightwork Academy teaches is rooted in and expanding upon that work; the additional commentary, interpretations and extensions — and any resulting errors — are Steven's alone. Students wanting the source are pointed to Dr Sankey's books and to authorised Esoteric Acupuncture teachers.
The clinic — Steven Booth Transpersonal Acupuncture — treats people. The academy teaches. They share a founder and a gold thread in the design, and nothing else: no claims cross from one to the other, and no testimonial about treatment appears here. If you are unwell, see your doctor; if you want to learn, you are in the right place.
